Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Description Alexandre Emsenhuber [IAlex] 2009-02-12 20:56:45 UTC
I sometimes received private messages from people on but I think this should be forbidden for consistency with channels which are read only.
Comment 1 Filip Maljkovic [Dungodung] 2009-02-12 22:35:22 UTC
I don't see a clear need for that. Besides, private messages proved to be helpful to me a few times.
Comment 2 Platonides 2009-02-12 22:52:31 UTC
I also find it useful.
Comment 3 Mike.lifeguard 2009-03-23 01:42:54 UTC
We have an 'IRC' component now. Also added shell keyword.
Comment 4 Mike.lifeguard 2009-03-23 02:00:40 UTC
I suspect this shouldn't be considered to block bug 16599 since this is to do with Wikimedia's irc server, nothing to do with development of the recentchanges/rc code. Will leave it to someone else to do something with that or not.
Comment 5 Brion Vibber 2009-05-28 18:53:40 UTC
We've got a couple requests here not to block PMs, and I don't see a compelling reason to block them, so going to give this an INVALID for now.
