Description pcaravelli 2008-06-06 14:01:18 UTC
The SIMILE Timeline tool that is built into Semantic MediaWiki is easily broken when making it display bulleted or numbered lists in event popup boxes.

For example, if you set the timeline to display the ?Description property in the event popup bubbles, and there exists an event whose Description includes a numbered or bulleted list, the errors occur.

There have been three types of errors that I have seen. The most reliable is that the timelineposition attribute is overwritten to be "today" regardless of manual settings. Additionally, however, I have seen this error cause other events not to show up in the timeline. Lastly, if there are two such events that utilize bulleted or numbered lists, there might be the aforementioned problem where events do not show up as well as: the first event that contains the list will also assimilate some other events' Descriptions into its own.

All three errors are displayed in the sandbox example provided. In that example, Testtimeline, Testtimeline1, and Testtimeline2 should show up as events in the timeline. However, Testtimeline2 does not show up, while Testtimeline1 assimilates Testtimeline2's description. Lastly, though the timelineposition is set to "middle", the timeline starts at the "today" position instead.
(note that the two events that do show up are in December 2007)

I am using:
Semantic MediaWiki 1.1.1
MediaWiki 1.12.0
PHP 5.2.4 (apache2handler)
MySQL 5.0.45
