Description Melancholie 2008-05-08 01:02:34 UTC
Similar to bug 13991.
Split up #ca-nstab-main tab into two variants; one for unmarked and one for marked revisions!

1. #ca-nstab-main-current ("Current article")
2. #ca-nstab-main-stable ("Stable article" / "Reviewed article")

Right now, only "Article" is shown. You do not know whether it's the current or a stable one (it is especially confusing when you log in or even sign up for the first time, then the order changes suddenly). Seeing "Marked" or "Unmarked" beside "Article" can be confusing, especially if someone sometimes edits as IP, sometimes as user.

This would provide a foolproof navigation, compare [[:de:Berlin]] where you have to *search* the flag box.

If this is considered to be fixed only show one "main" tab bold:
 If logged out:
  1. if ...?stable=1, show #ca-nstab-main-stable, and print it bold
  2. if ...?stable=0, also #ca-nstab-main-stable, but *not* bold; therefore #ca-current in bold
<~>
 If logged in:
  1. if ...?stable=0, show #ca-nstab-main-current, and print it bold
  2. if ...?stable=1, also #ca-nstab-main-current, but *not* bold; therefore #ca-stable in bold

Make only one tab bold, because those two versions are some kind of "different" articles.
Right now both links, towards stable=0 *and* stable=1 are printed bold if second tab from left is active.

Note: If a community only wants to see the short "article", they can do so. But provide the possibility of proper and intuitive distinction.

Maybe even consider something like #ca-nstab-main-sighted *and* #ca-nstab-main-quality *instead* #ca-nstab-main-stable
Depending on the situation!

Consistent scheme per r34467
Comment 3 Melancholie 2008-05-08 21:30:49 UTC
I would change order! Most "users" of content are readers (IP).
For them it looks strange now when tab #2 is in front and bold.
For IPs the most left tab should be in front and bold, logged in user must know that something is different for them, thus for them tab #2 should be in front and bold by default.

Tab #1: #ca-stable
Tab #2: #ca-current

Arguable/disputable, of course ;-)
Comment 5 Aaron Schulz 2008-05-08 21:43:30 UTC
Hmm, tabs are a bit funky for viewing old reviewed versions, since "draft" is highlighted. May want to tweak that.
Comment 6 Melancholie 2008-05-08 21:50:05 UTC
Yes.

Also if an IP will edit, he/she will see that the tab accentuation has changed from #1 to #2 if order is like in comment #3.
Like it is now it does not seem to be ideal to me (on dewikt in standard view, also the left tab is printed bold).
