Description Adam Cuerden 2008-04-30 21:27:14 UTC
commons.wikimedia.org has an awkward situation where both COM: and C: are used for redirects to Commons: directories: e.g. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/COM:FPC and http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/C:FPC both go to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Featured_picture_candidates

However, having two ways of doing redirects sometimes means that one gets missed out for some of the shortcuts.

Hence, I propose that COM: and C: on commons.wikimedia.org be made redirects to the Commons: directory, as WP: is a redirect to the Wikipedia directory on en.wikipedia.org

com: is reserved as an iso 639-3 language code for Comanche.

With all respect, that makes fixing this more important, because COM: is ''already'' in wide use on commons, and large parts of commons will be broken if com: is later taken over.

er, actually that example means that /Commons/ needs to fix that. A bug creating an alias would later be a conflict with the interwiki link.
