Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

This script must be run from the command line

I would guess this is because populateParentId.php has a require_once ''. Try commenting out that line from the file. I would further speculate that there should be a file, which the php one calls, and should call the inc, not the php one.
Comment 2 Daniel Friesen 2008-05-01 22:08:07 UTC

There is no, and there does not need to be one.

The require_once '' does not break things.

By definition of 'require_once' will only be required once. And update.php has already done this so it is not included again.

Could you run "php -v" and tell us what it outputs. And also tell us what version of MediaWiki you have.

Though it looks like you have the alpha version. Try doing a svn update first as you may have a broken version of trunk.
Comment 3 Brion Vibber 2008-05-01 22:34:27 UTC
require_once doesn't necessarily work correctly if the paths don't match.

Including a command-line executable script from inside another has a pretty good chance of failing. Particularly so when running from updaters, which may execute from the web installer -- not the command line at all!

Fixed in r34102. Split the function out to a nice .inc file.
