If you flag a page, it is subsequentely reloaded, because you are referred to the page with "stable=1". This slows things down significantly, without an obvious benefit. 

Instead, similar to what happens when you add a page to the watch list, the editor could get a message stating that the article has been flagged with a link to the stable version.
