Description Gabriel Beecham 2005-01-15 03:54:02 UTC
LanguageGa.php (the Irish language localisation) is in need of an update. A new
version (at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/LanguageGa.php) has been prepared
which re-translated the Category and Template namespaces (from Rang and Múnla
respectively to Catagóir and Teimpléad), as well as very many grammatical and
terminological corrections throughout. (Debugging thanks to Amgine.) As such,
could the file be uploaded so as to overwrite the existing MediaWiki messages
too at ga.wikipedia.org (and, time permitting, at the other ga sites)?

Also, as Irish has a genitive case, some special provision would ideally have to
be made for Irish locale wikis to use the {{SITENAME}} feature etc. properly.
This isn't as urgently desired as the simple upload of the file, but could it be
looked at?
Comment 1 Zigger 2005-01-15 04:09:59 UTC
The current version on meta seems to relate to cvs v1.17, and is missing
subsequent commits.
Comment 2 Gabriel Beecham 2005-01-15 22:43:05 UTC
It is definitely based on a more recent version than that. The diffs that I have
checked between 1.17 and the most recent 1.28.2.1 seem to show that the version
waiting on upload is up to date.
Comment 3 Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 2005-05-14 16:20:03 UTC
* Attach a patch against the current CVS, not a new file
* Don't export $wgDefaultUserOptionsGa or define it
* Don't define the math constants, $wgMathNamesEn, $wgDateFormatsGa,
$wgUserTogglesEn, $wgBookstoreListGa, $wgValidSpecialPagesGa
* Use parent:: to access the parent class, not Language::

<nowiki>{{subst}}</nowiki> function is _not_ working in [[:ga:]]
Comment 5 Gabriel Beecham 2005-06-30 20:23:33 UTC
LanguageGa.php (at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/LanguageGa.php) has been
synchronised with Language.php as of 23rd June 2005. Would it be possible for
some kind person to test and upload this file, overwriting the MediaWiki
messages in the process? And what are the options for implementing a genitive
version of {{SITENAME}}? Some instances of Vicipéid/Vicipéide have been left as
they are because of the lack of such a feature.

Update, concurrent with Language,php version 1.621.

This file has not been checked for syntax - this needs to be done. The file
also needs to overwrite all system messages on ga.wikipedia - this is a time
sensitive issue, as of course the main Language.php is always being updated.
