Re: Problem encountered in Wikipedia when attempting to read the entry for "Paradise Lost" John Milton at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradise_Lost

When I called up this entry, everything appeared to be normal. However, when I used the scroll bar (right hand side of the page) to move down the page, I received an error message: “IEXPLORE caused a general protection fault…”. (Note: there appear to be overlapping text lines on this page) At this point, I have no options and Internet Explorer shuts down.

This has happened to me before on several occasions, but ONLY in Wikipedia and only on a few of the articles. So I decided to try to track down this problem. What I was able to discover from the Microsoft Support for Internet Explorer 6.0 seems to point to a potential problem with a Java Applet.

I have screen prints of the error & of the information I found on the Microsoft support page > please see attachment

Does the crash continue if you disable JavaScript?

The described Java applet issue doesn't seem to be relevant to the only Java applet we use (the Cortado media player, which isn't opened unless you trigger it and there isn't any usage on that page that I can see).

Crash doesn't occur for me with IE 6.0 on XP, either with current version or the January 2 version.

Resolving WORKSFORME.
