Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Description CXI 2004-12-16 03:17:14 UTC
Currently, pages about templates are given a number of extraneous categories. If
this feature was added, __NOTEMPLATECATEGORIES__ (or similar) could be inserted
in those pages to ensure that only relevant categories are included.

This is already under discussion, although the discussion is admittedly rather
confusing right now: bug 706 comment 8 is my attempt to untangle two issues
which got confused, and my "case 2" there is now bug 835, and is the same as
what you're asking for here. [This not being a wiki, it's hard to "refactor" the
discussion to make more sense :)]
