Description Kalan 2007-08-09 12:34:54 UTC
If there is a call of #ifexist: function, then the page that's existance is checked appears in links list, irrespectively to whether it exists or not. It is not important in most cases, but it produces many links and makes [[Special:Wantedpages]] look very ugly when used in "popular" templates.

Source code calling #ifexist may be found at http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kalan/00?action=raw .

Indeed it does, this is necessary for proper link update behavior.
Comment 2 Rob Church 2007-08-09 16:20:17 UTC
A previous discussion on IRC involving myself and Tim (and to some extent, Brion and Domas) led to the conclusion that it might be possible to indicate when a link has produced a visible effect on a page, but we agreed this was not a high priority.
