There is an experimental keyboard translator for the Amharic and several Indic scripts. It adds a checkbox and a hint text in front of the page edit box in several Wikipedias, e.g.: "Phonetic Bangla Typing. Check/Uncheck box or use Esc as a toggle key to activate/deactivate. Go to WP:Typing for help" in the Bangla Wikipedia. A space should be inserted at the end of this message and before the edit box in the html of edit pages. Else, the last word is concatenated with the left edge of the edit box, thus the exit box moves right. If a user has selected to have the edit box use the full width, moving the edit box to the right ( in a clipping box surounding it ) makes some Browsers clip the scroll bar of the edit box. This is highly undesirable. The missing space results in a uggly or broken page layout, anyways, no matter what the user preferences are.
This is not a feature of MediaWiki and we don't maintain it. Please speak to the maintainers of the script and ask them to fix it (probably by wrapping their checkbox thing in a <div> or somesuch).
How can I find the maintainers? Which script? This is a feature of several Wikikpedia installations. Does that mean, the bug is misplaced of miscategorized here, and should actually be moved. or reclassified? Anyone knows how to do that?
Ask the sysops of the appropriate wikis. I don't know where they got it from or who wrote it.
I made reports with including suggested fixes on these pages: 1. http://am.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_talk:Monobook.js 2. http://bn.wikipedia.org/w/ index.php?title=MediaWiki_%E0%A6%86%E0%A6%B2%E0%A6%BE%E0%A6%AA:Monobook.js 3. http://gu.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki_talk:Monobook.js 4. http://or.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_talk:Monobook.js 5. http://pa.wikipedia.org/w/ index.php?title=%E0%A8%AE%E0%A9%80%E0%A8%A1%E0%A9%80%E0%A8%86%E0%A8%B5%E0%A8%BF%E0%A8%95%E0%A8%BF_%E0%A8%9A%E0%A8%B0%E0%A8%9A%E0%A8%BE:Monobook.js 6. http://te.wikipedia.org/w/ index.php?title=%E0%B0%AE%E0%B1%80%E0%B0%A1%E0%B0%BF%E0%B0%AF%E0%B0%BE%E0%B0%B5%E0%B0%BF%E0%B0%95%E0%B1%80_%E0%B0%9A%E0%B0%B0%E0%B1%8D%E0%B0%9A:Monobook.js If anybody knows more places, where the info should go, please pass it on, and report here that you did, so as to avoid duplication of effords. Thank you.
I made the change to the te.wikipedia. However, there was no change in the appearance before and after the change.
Created attachment 3643 [details] Screenshot after fix - te.wikipedia.org There is indeed a difference. Here is a screenshot after your fix. I'm sorry, I had not made one before, but, see next upload.
Created attachment 3644 [details] Screenshot before fix - bn.wikipedia.org Here is a screenshot before a fix. Note, that the last word of the hin text "help" appears at a strange place and shifts the edit box to the right. Were "help" a longer word, the scroll bar of the edit box, and possibly part of its content became invisible. Note that, the entire window does not have a scroll bar. This makes invisible parts of the edit box completely inaccessible for the user.
