This would allow for licensing microformats http://microformats.org/wiki/rel-license for image description pages. This would help machine readability with regard to the new EDP as well, which requires image licenses to be machine readable.
This would be very nice for file pages. It would be ideal if we could have the license template output <a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/" class="external text" title="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/" rel="license" about="Imagethumbname.jpg">Attribution ShareAlike 3.0</a> I have added the URL with relevant information on what Google uses for their image license search.
