I think it would be quite simple to be able to add a magic word to some templates so that when they are substituted they exhibit [[Special:ExpandTemplates]]-like behavior. For example, the [[Category:User warning templates|User warning templates]] on the English Wikipedia all need to be substituted, and when they are substituted there is a ton of unnecessary residue from optional parameters, parserfunctions, etc. Being able to place __EXPANDALL__ or something similar on the template so that when substituted all of this residue would be gone would be an amazing new feature.
(In reply to comment #0) > I think it would be quite simple I look forward to reviewing your patch.
? I don't have a patch. If it's not simple, then I'm sorry. First you scold me on bug 8799 with "Smart-ass comments like these are not helpful, nor welcome on this bug tracker." after I didn't make any sort of offensive comment, and then this.

This is not a duplicate of 2777. 2777 calls for a new syntax when substituting the templates, this calls for a line in the template itself, a very different thing.
However, it's for the same basic functionality, and bug 2777 is easier to implement since it requires less pre-processing of the template chain. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 2777 ***
