Description Jamie Hari 2007-02-23 18:56:49 UTC
I notice that with almost every installation of MediaWiki, including Wikipedia,
admins add nice, friendly little welcome messages to users' talk pages upon
their first edit.

While it is a nice touch to add it manually and sign your name to it... Wouldn't
it be MUCH more efficient to have the system do this automagically?

You could simply have the system add the {{welcome}} template, assuming it
template contains appropriate links to a place where the newbie can ask for
help, there should be no reason for manual intervention.
