Description Bence Damokos 2007-02-03 23:56:44 UTC
Hi!
I'll be uploading a file containig the Hungarian version of the interface
messages. It was created by copy-pasting the PHP output of
[[hu:Special:Allmessages]], deleting all the lines that were too Wikipedia
specific, but their current version should be kept, and where possible changing
the references to Wikipedia to {{ns:project}}, wiki, or {{SITENAME}}. When
updating please be careful to merge this file with the already done translations.

The Hungarian interface messages

As I explained this is about 97% percent of all the translated messages, it
doesn't contain about 3% that have a valid translation already, and which
translations should not be lost if possible. Thanks
Comment 2 Rob Church 2007-02-03 23:59:51 UTC
Please attach a proper patch (unified diff) against Subversion trunk, not the
whole file.
Comment 3 Raimond Spekking 2007-03-21 10:40:20 UTC
I close this bug as WONTFIX because we did not get a proper patch.

Feel free to reopen the bug when attaching a real patch. Thanks.
Comment 4 Robert Leverington 2007-03-21 10:50:17 UTC
Great reson for closing a bug, won't this deter potential patchers???
Comment 5 Raimond Spekking 2007-03-21 10:54:19 UTC
I hope not. But what else shall we do with these kind of bugs? Nobody is able to
fix it without a proper patch. Why should it stay open?

Fixed encoding

Previous file with fixed encoding:
* converted Windows-1250 to UTF-8
* converted CRLF to LF

If one of the people working in the guts of the localization stuff could do the
magic to normalize the messages order and compare it to the current version,
that would probably help here.
Comment 7 Raimond Spekking 2007-03-22 12:49:57 UTC
Sorry for my comment #3, I do not want to deter translators.

Based on Brions fix I have reworked and reformatted the messages, extension
messages transfered to extensions, outdated messages removed.

Some wrongly localized special pages and references to Wikipedia corrected/removed.

From checkLanguage.php:
623 messages of 1611 are not translated to hu, but exist in en.
21 messages of 989 in hu don't use {{plural}} while en uses it

Applied in r20618.
Comment 8 Bence Damokos 2007-03-22 14:10:44 UTC
Hi!
Thanks for correcting my wrong patch, I just don't think regular users are
actually able to create a good one (even though the Signpost sends us here,
instead of the more user friendly Beta-Wiki).

>21 messages of 989 in hu don't use {{plural}} while en uses it
Its just not necessary in Hungarian to use plural in many places English does
(in Hungarian nouns after numbers don't change depending on the number).

Thanks again,
Regards
Bence Damokos
