And we can click next even though there is nothing.

Comment 2 Aryeh Gregor (not reading bugmail, please e-mail directly) 2007-01-28 01:01:36 UTC
Tim turned it off for load reasons. Maybe if it's made more efficient it could be turned back on.

Shouldn't this be rewritten using the new redirects table? Would that make it faster?
Comment 3 Moe Epsilon 2007-02-03 23:33:15 UTC
Moez Roy is correct.

This needs to be re-enabled ASAP.
Comment 4 Rob Church 2007-02-03 23:55:39 UTC
(In reply to comment #3)
> This needs to be re-enabled ASAP.

It will be re-enabled when it's been rewritten to be more efficient and not kill
our database servers. Or would you rather all the sites were horribly slow and
the data was nasty and inconsistent and generally fubared?

Comment 5 Rob Church 2007-02-03 23:56:25 UTC
(Changing product to MediaWiki, since it's a software issue if we have to
rewrite it)
Comment 6 Mets501 2007-02-04 01:06:33 UTC
Actually, I would rather the site be horribly slow for a couple of minutes every
30 days if it updated.
Comment 7 Rob Church 2007-02-04 01:10:37 UTC

Smart-ass comments like these are not helpful, nor welcome on this bug tracker.
Comment 8 Mets501 2007-02-04 01:14:17 UTC
That was not a smart-ass comment, nor was it intended to be sarcastic, rude, or
unhelpful, and I'm very sorry if it came off that way. I was simply saying that
I consider this page extremely important, and would rather have the site be slow
for a couple of minutes every 30 days than have this non-updating. :-)
Comment 9 Aryeh Gregor (not reading bugmail, please e-mail directly) 2007-02-04 01:41:37 UTC
If it were a matter of a couple of minutes every 30 days, it probably wouldn't be shut off.

Please do not post anything here that doesn't contribute to a technical solution. Vote for the bug,
and if you must grumble please do so on VPT or somewhere. Thank you.
Comment 10 vic.garin 2007-02-05 05:12:18 UTC
"If it were a matter of a couple of minutes every 30 days, it probably wouldn't be
shut off."

Could Tim give his actual reasoning for turning off?

New patch for SpecialDoubleRedirects.php and SpecialBrokenRedirects.php

Updated patch
Comment 14 Moe Epsilon 2007-02-06 05:13:38 UTC
Broken redirects seems to be functional again as of 07:25
February 4th, but Double redirects is not updating still.
Comment 15 vic.garin 2007-02-24 17:36:43 UTC
Can some one test this Patch so RobChurch or Brion can implement it into
en.wikipedia.org?
Comment 16 Rob Church 2007-02-24 17:49:03 UTC
Patch appears to work.
Comment 17 vic.garin 2007-02-27 20:37:19 UTC
Hurray, now implement it into en.wikipedia.org. Please.
Comment 18 Rob Church 2007-02-27 20:41:45 UTC
1. It is rude to add others to the CC-list for a bug without their permission.
2. Assuming you or one of your colleagues was the person attempting to flag me
down in IRC earlier; that is obnoxious and unacceptable behaviour.
3. The patch will be applied when someone has time to do it.
Comment 19 vic.garin 2007-02-27 20:51:11 UTC
"The patch will be applied when someone has time to do it."

Who would that someone be?
Comment 20 Aaron Schulz 2007-02-27 21:03:02 UTC
Patch implemented in r20071
