Somebody welcomed me on fr.wikipedia and a "You have new messages (last change)" appeared. The strange things are : * It didn't disappear when i clicked on the "new messages" and "last change" links. I still see it everytime I'm not logged in, which is a bit annoying. * The "last change" link (given in the URL field) is strange, since it shows a "Next diff" link, even when there's only one revision. The "Next diff" link is strange too : http://fr.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Discussion_Utilisateur:213.161.192.243&diff=next&oldid=0&uselang=en Then there is another "Next diff" link, http://fr.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Discussion_Utilisateur: 213.161.192.243&diff=next&oldid=13441780&uselang=en which provides a diff between the first revision and itself. (The &uselang=en parameters were not in the original links, they were added by me to make it easier for you to see what's wrong).
Forgot to say : happens on Firefox and Safari on Mac OS X and even with a purge. But the "New messages" banner has just disappeared, for some reasons. The strange "Next diff" link is still there, though.
Your username will be needed if we're to check the live site for discrepancies.
OK, well, it happened when I was not logged in and my ip was (is) 213.161.192.243. My username is Mmenal.
I'm going to dupe this to bug 11527 for the diff link issue. A general new messages issue is bug 9213. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 11527 ***
