Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Description robth1 2006-12-02 20:41:18 UTC
Certain auto-formatting processes, (known at this point to include piped link
substitution of the [[Name (qualifier)|]] or [[w:name|]] type and subst:), do
not work inside <ref></ref> tags, making it necessary to either temporarily
remove the tags to allow the formatting to take place or to change the
formatting by hand. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Battle_of_Arginusae&diff=prev&oldid=78456688
as well as the url given above.

Smells like a dupe to me, and I suspect it applies to most parser hook extensions.
