While being interviewed for a Master's Thesis on Web 2.0 and Wikipedia, I was informed of some of the general impressions from the other interview "victims". One very general complaint (from, in general, inexperienced users) was the editing interface. Many had the feeling of being taken from the very polished front, with nice layout etc, to this editor window with strange codes and a tt font. This was quoted as a major obstacle to new users. It would thus seem to be a very useful improvement to have a very simple quasi-wysiwyg editor for new users, and the "old" one for experienced users. The new editor would not need to have many features; just a bold and italic button etc., like the old editor. The important part is not a lot of functionality, but that the text is shown approximately as it will look.
