Go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Statistics And refresh the page a few times (F5). Notice the number in "Users have made xxx edits". For me (just tried it), I got this number on the first page load: "Users have made 90,508,743 edits" after pressing F5, I get: "Users have made 90,508,633 edits" which is *smaller* than the first number. Shouldn't this number be only increasing? (I'm using Firefox on WinXP Pro)
What about page getting deleted ? :)
Well, I thought that a "page delete" just counts as an additional edit (i.e. change the page from the last version to "non existant"), especially since all the changes are still in the database and can be reviewed by someone with appropriate permission. So, is the number of deleted pages really that much greater than the number of edited pages?
Sounds more like replication lag to me.
For your information, a page deletion is indeed counted as one edit in Special:Statistics (if maintenance/initStats.php was not used).
Was probably slave lag
