Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Description Charlotte Webb 2006-11-06 03:13:02 UTC
Normally, when a I create a redirect and leave the edit summary blank, a default
comment of "Redirecting to Foo" is automatically produced.

However, if the redirect was created by unusual means, such as substituting a
template or variable, the automatic summary does not work.

For example, if I create a redirect from Bettles to Bettles, Alaska
using a shortcut:

#redirect , Alaska

The edit summary is left blank instead of having an automatic comment.

Ewwww subst. :)

Needs to be fixed to run checks after pre-save transform, presumably.

Fixed in r17462
Comment 3 Rob Church 2006-11-06 20:08:05 UTC
Yes, it wasn't bulletproof at the time, nor was it intended to be. :)
