When you push preview your edit summary could also be parsed and previewed, like the page text, and displayed below the edit summary box in a little box.
Edit summaries do not support complex markup, therefore a preview feature is rather pointless.
I disagree, if you were to use an incorrect inter-wiki link in the summary (as I have doine several times) the link is not displayed at all and sometimes mistakes can only be seen in rendered text.
It's hardly the end of the world.
It's also hardly the end of the world if you get some markup wrong in article text. At least that can be edited after you've saved. Since it's not a big deal if this isn't implemented, it's an enhancement, not a bug, but this *is* the place to request minor improvements as well as major. I've sometimes wanted this, certainly, particularly when I wasn't sure whether some particular bit of markup was supported in summaries and wanted to know before I saved.
Created attachment 2687 [details] Screenshot of an ugly implementation Well, a difficulty has arisen: where exactly should the preview be put? I'm not sure where it should go so as not to look ugly. Because I rather think this positioning looks ugly.
Put it somewhere near the bottom, just under the summary box.
