Description Steve Sanbeg 2006-10-03 16:49:24 UTC
The CategroyTree extension seems unable to handle leaf categories, which contain
articles, but no categories.

When I look at my root category, which contains other categories, it shows its
name with a [-], and a list of all of the subcategories, with a [+].

Clicking on the plus will cause the subcategory to show the word "loading" under
its list, and pop up a window with the text "bad target for sajax_do_call: not a
function or object: undefined"

It would be better to display the articles; but if it can't display anything,
the expand link shouldn't be there. But I don't see any options listed in the
readme to affect this behavior.

Please clarify: is this true only on your wiki, or does it also happen on
Wikipedia? If it's limited to your wiki, could you provide a link? Have you
tried other browsers?

It seems to be limited to my wiki; when using the same browser on wikipedia or
wikisource, it briefly displays "loading" then changes to "no subcategories".
Unfortunately, I don't have a publicly visible server to try this on.

Are you using the latest SVN version of CategoryTree and MediaWiki?

Strange, I just checkout out the trunk poem & phase3 MediaWiki to double check
that, in this install, the lists aren't indented and the [+] & [-] links aren't
functional. So I guess there must be some significant changes going on.

I have exactly the same problem with MediaWiki and CategoryTree installed from the current (today) stable release:
* MediaWiki 1.8.2
* CategoryTree extension for MediaWiki (r16022)
Comment 6 Manuel Schneider 2006-10-15 17:02:36 UTC
Updating to current SVN version of the CategoryTree extension helped. This version should be released immediately if yet stable.

OK, I just did another update, and it seems to work now. Thanks.
