I installed mediawiki 1.3.6 on my pc for the first time. It worked at first and
then I ran the config (which worked) and then moved the localsettings.php file
to the main folder and then when I went to the index page it was giving me a 500
error.

 I'm runnin a mysql, apache, php install on a winxp.

There is not enough information here to do anything. Please check your Apache error log, and configure PHP to log errors as well and provide 
that information.

I apologize I forgot to include the logged error. 

THis is the error I get.

[Sun Oct 17 11:01:47 2004] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] malformed header from
script. Bad header=HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently: c:/apache/php/php.exe

After installation I get an "Internal Server Error".

That's your access log, not your error log.

If you don't know where to look, contact your system administrator for help with setting up web applications.

My system administrator can't help me. He says he doesn't know what the error
log is.
What kind of web applications do you meant? Can I set up them myself?

And what about the error message from ajd777@gmail.com in comment #2 above:

I am running several Nuke-Portals without having a problem on different Domains
on that server.

The Wiki config gives me these:

The installation works well. But after trying to call the
domain.tld/wiki/index.php i get this Error 500 Mesaage.

Can't anyone Help ?
I tried with 1.4.5 and it stilkl doesn't work.

Maybe some privileges-problem ?

I set all my files to the same which i must had set for the config(index.php to
work: 755
777 and i get the same error at config.

Please help. i really need to use mediawiki.

Try accessing /path/to/index.php?title=Main_Page instead of just /path/to/index.php. 
 Can you then access your wiki?
