If you're searching there are lots of overflow menu options available: * Clear recent searches * Table of Contents * Read in other languages * Save page * Share * Find in page * Font and theme Only the first and last of those should be usable while you're searching. The rest should be hidden while you're searching.

If that's the best solution we have for now, then sure. That said, there is no UX reason why you shouldn't be able to switch to night mode in the middle of a search. So in the long run we should make sure that interaction works.
