When you do "Special:CheckUser/UsernameHere" it gives the output of the username.

Why does this extract a namespace parameter, when no such is used?

There are several possible checks, the "/" format is ambiguous. Also, for
security/disruption concerns, its bad to have a URL alone denote the results output.
