Steps to reproduce:

1.Open a page 
2.Add few references
3.Now Go to Insert>Reference>Use an Existing Reference 
4.Select one of the existing references


Observed Result:

The selected reference does not get added in the page and the "Save Page" remains disabled

Test Environment: http://en.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/
Browser: Chrome Version 26.0.1410.65 
OS: MAC OS X 10. 8. 5

Also, if you have added a reference list on that session before attempting to add an existing reference,the "Save Page" button becomes enabled but if you go to the Review your changes section there is no entry for adding <references> there.

After clicking on "Save Page" , you will see the reference list did not get added in the page , but you open VE , you will the reference list
