Description rowikipedia 2006-05-25 10:52:24 UTC
Hi. The current interwiki descriptor for the Turkmen language ([[tk:]]) is
currently "تركمن / Туркмен". This is incorrect, as the Turkmen language is
currently written officially only in the Latin script.

The new interwiki descriptor should hence be "Türkmen".

The pre-Soviet-era Arabic script is very little used, and the Soviet-era
Cyrillic script has been phased out since the 1990s. Additionally, and most
importantly, the Turkmen Wikipedia is written exclusively in the Latin script,
and therefore having Arabic and Cyrillic but not Latin is a bit odd.

For more information about the language, you can see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkmen_language

Thanks,

Ronline

This would be a change in Names.php
http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/phase3/languages/Names.php?view=markup
