Translated main menu into Uzbek, rest into Russian (for now) since majority of users speak both languages fluently.

Some things: don't use entities, you can use \' for '. Do you just want to default to Russian instead of English? In that case you need to inherit from Russian language and include *only translated parts* in the file.
Sorry I am very new at this. But wouldn't inheriting remove everything except for translate parts - I actually wanted to keep russian parts as a guidance for the future improvements... As it stands now, will it work?
The best thing to do, as comment 2 states, would to be inherit from the Russian language file (which would cause the software to fall back to Russian if a translated version isn't available) and then override where translations are available. This is the accepted standard where one language can be derived from another.

Dear Sharof! uz:special:SiteMatrix#uz shows "Ўзбек". uz:Ўзбек redirects to uz:O‘zbek_tili. Should http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/phase3/languages/Names.php?view=markup be changed to reflect that you are using Latin script? What do you propose? An one script only name or a two script name? ---- Your SITENAME is still Wikipedia but you refer to uz:Vikipediya on the main page. Would you require the change of the sitenames as well. If so please open a separate bug / request and specify all sitenames for the Uzbek projects (uz:special:SiteMatrix#uz). best regards reinhardt user:gangleri
Dear Reinhardt, Yes, it would be extremely useful if you changed "Ўзбек" to "O'zbek". [Entire country was supposed to switch to Latin script by 2007...] Currently we are in the process of acquiring adminstrator priviliges for some of our most active users. Once that is done, I will make sure that the Sitename issue is appropriately followed up. Thank you so much for help and advice. Just a quick question: has languageuz.php being uploaded? if so how come it is not reflected in the Uzbek wikipediya pages? Best regards, ~~~

Just file a bug or go into #wikimedia-tech and pester a system admin until it's done. > Just a quick question: has languageuz.php being uploaded? if so how come it is not reflected in the Uzbek > wikipediya pages? Because messages come out of the MediaWiki namespace, which was "built" using the old version of the files. I expect it could be rebuilt, again, just ask.
Can someone verify that these namespaces are indeed the correct translations. Translation of one namespace is actually missing. Reopen this bug if new information comes available.
"Wikipedia" and "Wikipedia_munozarasi" namespaces should be changed to "Vikipediya" and "Vikipediya_munozarasi". And also, SITENAME is showing now "Wikipedia", can you change it to "Vikipediya"?
(In reply to comment #10) > "Wikipedia" and "Wikipedia_munozarasi" namespaces should be changed to > "Vikipediya" and "Vikipediya_munozarasi". And also, SITENAME is showing now > "Wikipedia", can you change it to "Vikipediya"? Please file another bug for the namespace issue for the specific Wikimedia wikis (This can be done by filing another bug, then select Wikimedia - Site requests). By the summary above, since the MessagesUz.php file was applied into the trunk, this bug should be marked as FIXED. Please reopen the bug only if there's problem regarding to the Uz message file.
