On pages such as the Village Pump, the Main Page, and the RFA page, subpages are used to divide up the page. The cache has to be frequently purged for the page to see the edits. I say there should be a feature that recaches the subpage every time it is re-edited (using some fancy things with what links here and edit histories).
Subpages are shortcut links that begin with a slash, which go to the current page's title with the slash portion appended to it. I'm not sure how that's related to caching; can you clarify please?
I meant templates -- oops (changed)
Marking this as a duplicate of bug 734, which I think describes the cause of this problem - on a "real" template, the cache of included pages is automatically flushed on edit; the pages described aren't in the Template: namespace so the current code has no reason or means to flush the "parent" pages. (The "faster" in the summary is bogus, by the way; what's asked for is that they are flushed *automatically*) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 734 ***
