Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Patch – work in progress (2.27 KB, patch)

Description Rotem Liss 2006-02-05 17:51:49 UTC
You should allow things like "__FORCE_NEWSECTION__" and "__NO_NEWSECTOIN__", for
there are talk pages which are not in the "Talk" namespaces (for example, the
Village Pump), and there are talk pages in the "Talk" which are archive, and we
don't want new messages to be written in.
Comment 1 Brion Vibber 2006-02-05 18:56:45 UTC
I can't imagine any reason to turn it _off_ on talk pages; just don't click it.
Turning it _on_ for some specialized page types might be useful.

You may know you shouldn't click it, but other users may not. For example, a
week ago someone asked me a question in one of my archive talk pages, and I saw
it only yesterday.
Comment 3 Brion Vibber 2006-02-05 19:25:31 UTC
So? They can also click "edit" and change the page around completely.

Patch – work in progress

That's my initial work, help is wanted. (I'm not sure my suggestion is
logically possible.)
Comment 5 Rob Church 2006-05-01 20:35:26 UTC
Added a __NEWSECTIONLINK__ magic word in SVN trunk, r14009. Modifies the
ParserOutput object to pass flags to the OutputPage, and so to the skin.
