Okay.  Openned also bugzilla case #4844 for Wikiversity namespace.

Shouldn't this be accomplished by changing $wgSitename or $wgMetaNamespace and
$wgMetaNamespaceTalk in LocalSettings.php?

No. But what *does* need to be done for the wiki farm requires the intervention
of someone with shell access.
