Description James 2005-12-12 19:02:45 UTC
The logos for ang.wiktionary.org, ang.wikibooks.org, and.wikiquote.org won't change, even though a
new Wiki.png has been uploaded and protected.
Comment 1 James 2005-12-12 19:03:35 UTC
If there were some interface on the System messages "Logo Change" where we could upload a logo, separate from other images,
that would help immensely.
Comment 2 Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 2005-12-12 19:04:32 UTC
INVALID, this functionality is not supported
Comment 3 Rob Church 2005-12-12 19:25:40 UTC
Let's just be clear about it; the described "functionality" would work, if the
site configuration was to use that particular image from the wiki as the logo.
However, it's not, so it doesn't.

Avar's right in that it's not functionality that we ship with, i.e. it requires
a special configuration tweak to use an uploaded file as a logo.
Comment 4 Rob Church 2005-12-12 19:29:31 UTC
Reopening as a valid configuration request.
Comment 5 Antoine "hashar" Musso (WMF) 2005-12-12 19:56:47 UTC
Just add the upload.tada/b/bc stuff in InitialiseSettings.php
Comment 6 Rowan Collins [IMSoP] 2005-12-12 20:08:11 UTC
Perhaps that *should* be the default configuration - people can always edit
their LocalSettings.php if they want, but if they didn't, they could just upload
a new one and it would update. The only problem I can see is that we don't
enable *uploads* by default, so somebody's still got to go into
LocalSettings.php and sort that out. While they're there, they can edit $wgLogo.

For Wikimedia sites, though, it seems reasonable to have it always pointing this
way, because we have lots of wikis, and few people who can access
LocalSettings.php (or whatever files the settings are stored in).

Updated live site.

Can you open that as a feature request ? Sound like a good idea :)

Well, for the Wikimedia case, there seems little more to say - you clearly have
the appropriate access, can't you just do it?

For the more general case, someone's already openned bug 4262.
