Hallo! Basic idea: If you change the language for the user interface in [[special:Preferences]] the content of a wiki will not change. Requirements of this bug: - *navigation* and *toolbox* for the wiki should be preserved as defined in the original [[MediaWiki:Sidebar]] and toolbox counterpart (bug 04086) and should *not* be *altered* due to differences between this and its translations - translations of the items in [[MediaWiki:Sidebar]] should be done *only* if these are MediaWiki messages *from* [[special:Allmessages]]; -> if they are *not* local to the wiki - i.e. if they are *not* included in [[special:Allmessages]] - they should *not* be translated and then tey presented as they are; this requires also an embeding with Unicode Character 'LEFT-TO-RIGHT EMBEDDING' (U+202A), Unicode Character 'RIGHT-TO-LEFT EMBEDDING' (U+202B) and Unicode Character 'POP DIRECTIONAL FORMATTING' (U+202C) characters. *notes* -This idea has been presented (more or less clear) before at Bug 2030: anomalies in the "Navigation" menue while selcting a different languages in [[Special:Preferences]] - Please verify also Bug 4004: Navigation bar list differ when language is not En regarding the ideas presented above. regards reinhardt [[user:gangleri]]

Uh, isn't this how it works already? Only those which are defined to be language- dependent in the configuration will change their destination.

Brion: I can confirm: "Only those which are defined to be language- > dependent in the configuration will change their destination." Thanks for fixing this.
