The login is not case sensitive. Chtitux == ChtiTux == chtitux. But the pages [[User:Chtitux]], [[User:Chtitux]] and [[User:chtitux]] are totally different : it is not the same pages. When an user login with chtitux and he has registered his nick with ChtiTux, his "home page" is empty [[User:chtitux]] doesn't exist. He has no contributions (Special:Contrib/chtitux != Special:Contrib/ChtiTux). Either the software is case sensitive (ChtiTux and chtitux are different nicks), or not at all (Chtitux and ChtiTux and chtitux are the same users AND User:Chtitux == User:chtitux (etc.))
Dear Théo, Please do the following: a) Log in as [[User:Chtitux]]; set the interface language to somthing else then default en: - English, eo: - Esperanto etc.; create your user page (at what wiki en:?, fr:?); then log out. b) Log in as [[User:ChtiTux]]; set the interface language to somthing else then default fr: - Franc, ais, eo: - Esperanto etc.; create your user page; then log out. c) Log in as [[User:chtitux]]; loo at the language defined in the preferences and see what this account is: It should be a). Look at "your page" it should be the same as the one created a). Note: If the wiki is *not* case sensitive regarding the *first* letter you may create *different* pages [[user_talk:foo]] *and* [[user_talk:Foo]]. This should not be and related to this is bug 03904: disallow user pages and user_talk pages starting with lower case on case sensitive wikis Note: Acconts *Chtitux* is always / should always be different from *ChtiTux*. If you can see this from the procedure described above please make the bug as invalid as it is no duplicate of bug 03904. best regards reinhardt [[user:gangleri]] *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 3904 ***
ups! reopened and removed duplicate of bug 03904
OOoops, ChtiTux and Chtitux are NOT the same account. I've created 2 accounts : [C,c]htitux AND ChtiTux. (I've checked that with the User ID). But I think the non-sensitive case of Nicks it's a bad idea ...
marked as INVALID actual policy is to have case sensitive login Else this woud be a duplicate of bugs related to "mimicry": Bug 1524: usernames should use unicode whitelist and its duplicates - Bug 2290: user impersonation using homographs - Bug 3313: Disallow usernames that are too similar to existing names best regards reinhardt [[user:gangleri]]
