Request: MediaWiki messages are protected. No abuse should be done by sysop's who are the only ones who can edit these messages. Various messages are displayed in various ways. Many are plain text, not HTML. Use the actual character where necessary.

OK Brion. That's fair too. It only takes two hours instead of some minutes to generate what is intended. Most people would not be able to see what is realy coded in the message. A tool to "trace" such messages is requested in bug 4012: feature request: add a felexible magic character conversion to the build in editor

bug 2453: [[Special:Allmessages]] should provide information about the type of the MediaWiki message is a requirement to offer minimal help for people not involved in MediaWiki development. It would make life easier because one could imediatly see how the messages are used / rendered.
