Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Description Chris Wood 2005-10-11 23:03:27 UTC
If possible, PNGs should be compressed after they have been uploaded. They
should also be compressed when resized for an article.
Comment 1 Brion Vibber 2005-10-11 23:18:58 UTC
The PNG format is inherently compressed.
Comment 2 Chris Wood 2005-10-12 03:15:00 UTC
But there are different levels of compression...
Comment 3 Rob Church 2005-10-12 09:08:42 UTC
And the user ought to select the best possible compression for it. There isn't,
as far as I know, an easy way for us to create an even-more-compressed version
reliably on-the-fly, using the time and resources we have (consider, from page
request to page display).
