the current system of hylighting by changing the forground color does not make
it obvious where changes in spacing and to a lesser extent punctuation are.
Changing the background color would work for these cases.

There could be added the following line to your [[MediaWiki:Monobook.css]] to
achieve what you want:

 .diffchange {background-color: #F5DEB3;}
