Currently in image markup you can have three settings for borders, |thumb|, |frame| and nothing, 
which results in no border.

Thumbnail sizes can be specified in [[special:preferences]].  What I think would be useful is 
another tag that sets the size of the image to the user defined thumbnail size but without the 
border and caption.  This would be useful in taxoboxes etc where for aesthetic reasons there is 
already a border in the wiki markup, and potentially elsewhere.

seems it had been implemented as "frameless"
