I have an idea. I am working on Computer games wikiportal on pl.wikipedia and I am thinking about randomly showing of some articles. Now I use {{{{{CURRENTTIME}}}}} and manual list to do this. It is unpractical because on any edit of first article's paragraphs I need to edit also the template. Used template (title changed): {{Random article by CURRENTTIME| | 00:00 = (...) | 00:01 = (...) | 00:02 = (...) | 00:03 = (...) | 00:04 = (...) (...) | 23:57 = (...) | 23:58 = (...) | 23:59 = (...) |} You see: it is very unpractical. :) So my question is: Are you planning to add showing of first xx letters/words function to MediaWiki? P.S. Sorry for my English. I have ''only'' ;) en-2 on Wikipedia:Babel status.
see bug 3626: extension request: <intro>; together with {{intro:page}} and &action=intro about *sample content* for a certain page please open a separate request if you need a random generator mechanism Regards Reinhardt [[user:gangleri]]
regarding the aspect for random number generation please watch {{CURRENTTIME2}} - bug 3453: Need variable for time without seconds

(In reply to comment #3) Irrelevant.
Not likely to do this; you can use <onlyinclude> as equivalent.
