Description Andreas Neuhaus 2005-08-15 01:40:07 UTC
The German translation for a "locked" page in LanguageDe.php is usually
"geschützte Seite", not "gesperrte Seite". However "protectedtext" is confusing,
because it tells about a "gesperrte Seite". Maybe the translation should be
changed from "Diese Seite ist für das Bearbeiten gesperrt." to "Diese Seite
wurde gegen eine Bearbeitung geschützt." to avoid confusion.

Correct translation:
locked = gesperrt
protected = geschützt
Comment 2 Andreas Neuhaus 2005-08-16 21:58:14 UTC
That's indeed the correct 1:1 translation. However in the context of a wiki,
it'd be ok to call a protected page "gesperrt" as well as "geschützt". The
translators should try to choose one of the words and keep it in all messages.
Using both words is what it makes inconsistent and confusing.

PS: Even de.wikipedia.org seems to be a bit confused about "gesperrt" and
"geschützt". If you try to edit a protected page, it says that the page is
"gesperrt" and tells you to visit the page "Geschützte Seiten".

I can't do anything without patch.
