If you search for a term in file names (very useful, since so many users don't categorize or even annotate their images, especially on commons), you get 48 results of files containing your search term. If you want to browse to the "Next 48", you just get the 48 files that have been uploaded after the 48th image that contained your search term, regardless if they contain the search term or not. If this isn't trivial, please consider to re-introduce such a search form for "Special:Imagelist", which was also very useful and saving bandwidth. As an illustration: I like to search for buildings of theatre buildings, so I often search for "thea" and "tea". I don't need a thumbnail to see that "Tea cup" isn't what I search, but "teat. municipale" is. So the search feature in Special:Imagelist would also be welcome if added again.
There should be no search box on Special:Newimages (since it makes no sense), and there should be a search box on Special:Imagelist.
(In reply to comment #1) > There should be no search box on Special:Newimages (since it makes no > sense), and there should be a search box on Special:Imagelist. But - just to make sure - please don't remove the search box on Newimages before the one on Imagelist ist implemented - it's at least better than nothing at all which will make it nearly impossible to find the latest images by their name right now.
Fixed on CVS HEAD.
