Please enable Extension:DynamicSidebar on Hindi Wikipedia. The local consensus is here: http://hi.wikipedia.org/wiki/विकिपीडिया:New_Extension
Users can already do this with the user JS, Is this really needed?
Not all users knows about user JS. Hi wiki community likes this so no problem with this at all.
Not all users are aware about java script config in hi wiki, that why we choose that.Regards
This shuts off the sidebar cache for logged in users and does no actual caching of its own. Not sure it can pass a performance review given that.
If users dont want to play with JS, please add them as gadgets(Gadgetize) and make them use preferences page to turn them on and off. Devs, Is this a right practise in general? We in tamil wiki have been doing this to few userscripts we write.
There is no harm in providing this facility if it has no security concerns, so please enable it.
(In reply to comment #6) > There is no harm in providing this facility if it has no security concerns, so > please enable it. There are still performance concerns, as I pointed out in comment 4.
See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Writing_an_extension_for_deployment for information on what is needed to get an extension reviewed before potentially deploying it on a wikisite.
hi.wiki consensus of 2011 is outdated anyway, and proved unreliable: most of that page was cancelled by more recent consensus. Please reopen or file again if you can address all the comments above, thanks.
