Description Rainer Rillke @commons.wikimedia 2011-07-09 19:13:57 UTC
Some users reported that if they forget to specify the file extension, they get the following message:

File extension does not match MIME type.

It would be nice to notify the user that he *forgot* to specify the extension - Or the more elegant solution, you add it automatically.

This shouldn't be difficult to implement.

Sincerely Rillke

It would be better the software automatically completes (directly) the correct file extension.

Can you please give an example.

When i try to upload a file without extension MW guesses the right extension and gives a warning

But for some MIME types there are no results while guessing the extensions..Thus we get an error

If I would know what has been changed so it's working now, I would point to the code-rev and mark it.

I exactly dont know the changes, may be you would have tried some MIME type which the code couldnt guess.
