Not sure we want transparency. My address bar background color is black. With a black text on transparent background I will no more see the W :/

Most people do not have a black taskbar. here you go: http://www.qwikly.com/img/favicon/invertedfavicon.ico

Solid background is deliberate: * Doesn't look awful in browsers that don't deal well with alpha transparency in icons * Avoids conflicts with different background colors
Provided icon file also fails to load in Safari 2.0, may be corrupt or invalid type.
The icon file can be fixed; i'll create it on OSX at the university. It doesn't change the problem that we have a poor favicon.
There's no problem with the current icon.
(In reply to comment #8) > There's no problem with the current icon. The current icon is not centered vertically and it is faint (at the least). We are a top 50 website now (or near it) and the #1 reference site. It does not appear as if care was put into making it which is unsatisfactory. I'll post a fixed version (if I can duplicate the safari problem) a bit later.
