Description Brion Vibber 2011-04-15 21:29:46 UTC
Bugzilla 4 now has a nice inline autocomplete thingmajig for CC and Assigned fields. Unfortunately it only seems to show one row, which is usually not enough to disambiguate: for instance 'trevor' shows 'Trevor Burnham' but not 'Trevor Parscal', 'bryan' shows 'Allen Bryan' but not 'Bryan Tong Minh'.

Sometimes typing a few more letters is enough to resolve, but if not it's pretty mysterious -- if someone has a funky variant of their name in the system you might need to go back from a full form to a shorter substring to turn up the proper result, and if it's not first we never see it.

A mostly related complaint: the feature in BZ3 that let you submit a partially complete name in the CC or Assigned field and gave you a list box with all the names and e-mail addresses matching that, is gone now. Instead, BZ4 makes you go back and use the autocomplete thing (which is JS-only, so this is bad for non-JS users). In one instance I lost the text of my bug submission in the process.

Testing for whether comment 1 is fixed. Adding a partial name in the cc field.

I changed the auto complete to match upto 50 users. I think that's a reasonable number. Let me know if you want that changed.
Roan, I see a confirmation page with a list box with possible name matches now. Someone may have changed that configuration parameter since you reported it.

50 might actually be a bit high, it's taller than the screen. :) 10-20 is probably plenty, but more than 1 is darn great. Thanks!
