It would be handy to have a dump of dummy usernames to work on the AjaxLogin and other projects. Perhaps this could be auto-generated from dumps somehow.
Generating it from real usernames would be a huge privacy violation.

Sure the usernames are, but the rest of the information isn't public (and shouldn't be). I'm not sure what use a list of usernames has.
you're right. given that the person could easily extract the info from a dump, it might be most useful to just create a script that would do this. But that is the sort of thing that should be on a wiki: "So you want a sample list of usernames?"
WONTFIX per Chad. I can't see really any use case for a dump of just usernames, For those working on/developing extensions (Like Ajaxlogin given in the example) you would want accounts you could actually test with it and it would be faster and easier just to create a few Test(1-X) accounts for that by hand on their local test installs.
