Currently, if a page has the following interwiki links [[fr:Quark]] [[ru:Кварк]] [[it:Quark (particella)]] they get displayed as Français Русский Italiano in the sidebar. This means that individual wikis need to maintain the ordering on individual articles, through bots, manual editing, etc... which consume a considerable amount of both bot-hours and man-hours, and which in turn generates edits with a relatively bad cost/value ratio. This disproportionately takes a toll on the smaller wikis since they have smaller editing communities, some of them which might not have the technical people required to make and maintain these bots. A better approach would be to have a per-wiki master list of interwiki-link ordering, meaning that (on the English Wikipedia) [[fr:Quark]] [[ru:Кварк]] [[it:Quark (particella)]] Would be displayed as Français Italiano Русский (or however the master-list tells the software to order them), regardless of their order within the article. This would guarantee a consistent displaying of interwiki links, making the interface more user-friendly to foreign editors across all wikis.
