A lot of users make mostly minor edits to main pages but major edits to discussion pages. Therefore, it would be extremely helpful if the current 'Mark all edits minor by default' option in user preferences was split into two accordingly--one for main page edits and one for discussion page edits.

We're trying to reduce the amount of seldom used preferences. The described behavior can be implemented with a small bit of JavaScript.

Compare bug 27860 which asks not to hardcode other "minor by default or not" patterns.
