The dialogue of the extension (v1.6) does only display < & string & > instead "Old user (merge from):" a.s.o.

Attached patch makes them available.

Please upgrade to MediaWiki 1.16 or download older version of UserMerge that is compatible with your MediaWiki. See http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:ExtensionDistributor/UserMerge

I also updated installation instruction in mediawiki.org
